This is an ongoing project which began mid summer 2019. I challenged myself to become more skilled in observation. I had never truly been concerned with recreating a likeness before now. This project has challenged me to first recreate a likeness of an individuals body, and second to create interesting and colorful compositions using that body. I have no real say in the images I paint, as they are all submissions. I have also been drawing images of dogs and collaging them with the paintings of bodies. My inspiration for this was the classic painting Venus of Urbino. I was thinking of the symbolic meaning of a dogs presence in classical nudes. Fidelity and loyalty. I decided a modern and fun method of interjecting these ideas into my work would be collage. This page shows the original nude paintings as well as the beginning of the collage series.
